It is important to ensure regular worming and vaccination and to understand why we advise certain protocols are followed.

Consequently we have provided some basic information on the following pages. Always seek the advice of your veterinary surgeon for any condition affecting your animal's health.

The horse has been with man throughout history and has served a variety of practical purposes, most notably horses have been used as a means of transport, as a work horse in agriculture and in battle combat.

Today, the power, agility, gracefulness and speed of the horse means that horses are mostly used for personal pleasure and utilised in competitions.

CRT (Capillary Refill Time - pressing finger on gum above the front teeth and seeing how long it takes for the colour to return):

Less than 2 seconds

Skin Turgor (Skin elasticity - pinching skin and seeing how long it takes to return to normal):

Less than 1 second

Hoof Temperature:

Luke warm
